There comes a time in life when you realize that something needs to change. We get stuck. It may be unhealthy patterns in our behaviors, our bodies, our minds, or our relationships. There may be specific traumas that haunt us. Sometimes we don’t even know what is holding us back.

I work with people to conceptualize and achieve change in their lives. Ultimately, I help them reconnect with joy and positive emotions and to find paths to personal growth.

My approach to therapy is built on the premise that we need insight and self-awareness to heal and to grow, and this is especially true when we are dealing with difficult circumstances. For more than 25 years, I have studied the human experience and how our minds work – and I’m still learning new things every day. I use this cognitive science-informed perspective to help us understand what’s happening in your life and to choose a path forward.

It’s also important for us to acknowledge that we are fully embodied animals and that consideration of our physical well-being is necessary for our mental health. We must nourish our bodies and our relationships perhaps in different ways than our culture would suggest. Our culture has a way of covertly implanting its expectations into us, and I often work with people to actively consider whether these are the expectations that we want to have for ourselves.

I see therapy and counseling as collaborations in which we use the tools of counseling and psychology to help patients understand themselves and to get more out of life.
