Robert Diaz

Hello there, I’m Robert.

As a therapist, I have a humanistic and mindfulness-based approach to therapy. I integrate modalities such as psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, strength-based, and solution-focused therapy. I take a whole-person approach to this process and want to understand who you are and what makes you, you.

To me, there is no perfect modality or a “one size shoe fits all” approach to therapy. We are all different. What works for one person may not work for another and I try my best to provide a clear and unique process to what works for you individually.

More importantly to me, like you, I am a human being. I do not want to sound like a machine or a diagnostic manual when we speak. I want to be as down-to-earth and realistic with you as I possibly can be. My goal in therapy is for you to have the feeling that you’re sitting in front of a real person and that the therapy process is not only professional, but a welcoming environment to feel more relaxed and open to express yourself freely.

My goal as your therapist is simple:

I want to be present with you each time you show up, be mindful and compassionate of what you share, promote building resiliency and focus on your strengths and goals, help cultivate empowerment for you to use in your day-to-day life, develop a roadmap to your goals and collaborate with you during this process to find the best solutions we can, as a team.

As a Veteran, I am no stranger to challenges, hardships, change, difficulties, or pain in life. I can relate to how challenging it can be to take a moment in your life and start the therapy process due to the circumstances we experience in our lives. I have experienced therapy from both sides of the process, and I can relate to the challenges it may pose at first. Therapy can initially feel new, scary, lonely, judgmental, or unsure in the beginning. I want to change all that, and I’m so glad you’re here with me. It takes courage to make this decision and I applaud you for that choice.

This is your therapy session; this is a part of your journey. I am here to walk with you on part of this journey and go at the pace at which you are comfortable.

I can be available in person or online. I can’t wait to start this journey with you.
