Torry Anderson
My hope for you is to discover safety, acceptance, and compassion in the counseling relationship. As a therapist, I operate from a person-centered approach, utilizing CBT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed modalities. I will provide a safe space wherein authenticity is a cornerstone of our collaborative journey to explore difficult emotions and work through interpersonal dynamics. While we illuminate that which informs who you are and how you arrived here, the goal is to help you become the person you want to be. In strengthening your self-concept, I hope to encourage growth, embracing of the full spectrum of feelings, and developing and maintaining healthy relationships.
I have a background in behaviorism with students impacted by disability as well as emotional-behavioral disorders and I am uniquely passionate about work with marginalized populations. I deeply value and encourage the unique diversity which you bring to the counseling space and seek to help you flourish in who you are and where you hope to be. That you are accepted, free of judgement, is a priority to me in the work that we do together. Additionally, I am equipped to work within your faith traditions, values, and cultural influences, encompassing, but not limited to, religious trauma and healthy world-view formation.
As we pursue health and personal growth together, I work to empower you in setting the pace of your own therapeutic journey. My goal is to uphold your dignity as we navigate the ways by which you find improved coping, esteem, and purpose.
